a. Keloid Scar Removal
Cryodestruction™
Keloids are painful, overgrown scar tissue which don’t subside overtime and instead, continue to grow above the skin. Cryodestruction™ (the application of extreme cold) is an innovative, highly effective technique which freezes keloid from the inside out using liquid nitrogen. The temperature of liquid nitrogen, in conjunction with argon gas or carbon dioxide, is as low as -196 C. It works on diminishing keloid mass while significantly lowering the rate of reoccurrence.
The treatment has a 97% success rate, with no risk of worsening the scar.
Steroid Injections
Steroid injections (or Kenalog Injections) are usually administered shortly after a scar has healed. Our dermatologist may inject a corticosteroid solution directly into a keloid scar to reduce its size. The solution breaks down the bonds between collagen fibers beneath the skin while reducing swelling, tenderness and itching. The treatment is limited to a total of 5 injections only, every four to six weeks.
b. Atrophic Scar Removal
Contrary to keloid or hypertrophic scars, atrophic scars are the kind to leave indentations and are usually caused by cystic acne or chicken pox. Luckily, such scars respond fantastically to chemical peels, dermal fillers, silicone gels and steroid injections.
